The 2023 EVO Tonearm range from Pro-Ject Audio Systems consists of four different tonearm models suited to different applications, culminating in the most impressive tonearm offering in the modern hi-fi market. 

The tonearm is a crucial part of the turntable, allowing the cartridge to navigate the record grooves and only passing through musical information without noise or degradation. Therefore, technically correct designs are essential, and the EVO range achieves this with a host of industry-leading technologies and expert-engineering. However, there is also an element of personal preference when picking the right tonearm for your turntable, so the EVO range offers a choice of high-mass or low-mass arms, detachable headshells, s-shape or straight tonearm tubes and striking finish options - allowing you to pick exactly what is right for you.

EVO Tonearm Upgrade Program

The EVO tonearm range is available from all authorised Pro-Ject Top Partner and Reference Partner retailers (check the product pages for your local retailer), and is an ideal choice for a huge variety of turntables. They're also easy to install, either with the help of your retailer or by yourself (depending on your level of confidence), so in order to make this range as accessible as possible, Pro-Ject have formulated an Upgrade Program for new Pro-Ject turntable customers, existing Pro-Ject turntable users and even for those who are looking to move to a Pro-Ject tonearm.

Upgrade a New Pro-Ject Turntable

When purchasing a new Pro-Ject turntable that comes equipped with an EVO tonearm as standard with a 5-Pin DIN output connection, customers can opt to upgrade this tonearm at the point of purchase to a compatible model within the Pro-Ject EVO range.

The Calculation:
When upgrading your tonearm at the point of purchasing your new Pro-Ject turntable, use the following calculation:

SRP of Chosen Tonearm - SRP of Standard Tonearm = Additional Price to Pay

For example, Customer A would like to upgrade from a EVO 9 CC (£725.00 SRP) to a EVO 9 AS (£999.00 SRP): 999 - 725 = £274.00 upgrade charge.*

The below turntables are the best examples from the current Pro-Ject range that could benefit from this upgrade program:

The Process:

When your order is submitted, a member of the Henley Audio team will open your new turntable and professionally install the upgraded tonearm before sending it out - so you're ready to play as soon as you receive it.

What about Non-EVO Tonearms?

For instances when you would like to upgrade a new turntable with an EVO tonearm and the turntable is not otherwise supplied with an EVO CC model, use the following calculation:

SRP of Chosen Tonearm - £200.00 = Price to Pay

For example, Customer A would like to upgrade his The Classic EVO tonearm with an EVO 9 AS HG (£1549.00 SRP): 1549 - 200 = £1349.00 upgrade charge.*

When purchasing new, this price can include installation either at Henley Audio or your chosen dealer. Please note, in many cases a special order may need to be placed for the tonearm, as in many cases we will require a tonearm with wires that can be soldered into a junction box, rather than a standard 5 Pin DIN output.

Upgrade a current Pro-Ject tonearm

For those who already have a Pro-Ject turntable that features an EVO tonearm, you can also upgrade to a new EVO model and make a saving by trading in your existing arm.

The Calculation:
When trading in your existing EVO tonearm use the following calculation:

SRP of Chosen Tonearm - [60% of SRP of Standard Tonearm] = Upgrade Price

For example, Customer B would like to upgrade from a EVO 10 CC (£775.00 SRP) to a EVO 10 CA Premium HG (£1,749.00 SRP): 1749 - [775*0.6] = £1,284.00 upgrade charge.*

Options:
The below turntables are the best examples from the current or recently discontinued Pro-Ject range that could benefit from this upgrade program:

ª These models are equipped with RCA junction boxes and therefore will require a special version of the upgraded tonearm, which is supplied, equipped to be soldered into the junction box. Please note these models are Special Order only and may have a slightly longer lead-time.

The Process:
If you would like to take advantage of this upgrade program, please Contact Us or speak with your local dealer. When your order is submitted, the new tonearm will be sent and you can use the supplied packaging to return your trade-in tonearm. When the trade-in tonearm is received, the trade-in discount can be applied. Additional tonearm packaging is available on request.

What about Non-EVO Tonearms?

For instances when you would like to upgrade an existing turntable with an EVO tonearm and the turntable is not otherwise supplied with an EVO CC model, use the following calculation:

SRP of Chosen Tonearm - £200.00 = Price to Pay

For example, Customer B would like to upgrade his X2 tonearm with an EVO 9 AS HG (£1549.00 SRP): 1549 - 200 = £1349.00 upgrade charge.*

When purchasing, this price can include installation either at Henley Audio or your chosen dealer. Please note, in many cases a special order may need to be placed for the tonearm, as in many cases we will require a tonearm with wires that can be soldered into a junction box, rather than a standard 5 Pin DIN output.

Upgrade from a Non-Pro-Ject Tonearm

For those who have a turntable equipped with a non-Pro-Ject tonearm, you can also upgrade to a new EVO model and make a saving by trading in your existing arm.

The Calculation:
When trading in your existing tonearm use the following calculation:

SRP of Chosen Tonearm - [30% of SRP of Chosen Tonearm] = Upgrade Price

For example, Customer C would like to upgrade from his current non-Pro-Ject tonearm to a EVO 12 AS Premium HG (£2,199.00 SRP): 2199 - [2199*0.3] = £1,539.30 upgrade charge.*

The Process:

When your order is submitted, the new tonearm will be sent and you can use the supplied packaging to return your trade-in tonearm. When the trade-in tonearm is received, the trade-in discount can be applied. Additional tonearm packaging is available on request.

How do I mount my new Pro-Ject EVO tonearm?
Pro-Ject tonearms make use of Baerwald geometry, and are generally very easy to fit and install. For SME and Linn turntables, Pro-Ject produce flanges/bases that can be used to mount the tonearm into the turntable's mounting hole. They can also offer a bespoke engineering service for other turntable/tonearm mounting plates at a fixed cost of £225.00.
