Ortofon introduce a range of Hi-Fi orientated Concorde cartridges

Concorde Music Black

Concorde has been in continuous production for Ortofon ever since it’s initial release, changing subtly over the years but always retaining its remarkable robustness and impressive tracking ability.Though Ortofon's Concorde-shaped cartridges are now considered the defacto standard in the DJ world, it's important to remember that the design started life as a hi-fi cartridge. First unveiled in 1979, the revolutionary Concorde cartridge was first designed to be a plug-and-play cartridge that had a stylus with a lower mass than the VMS cartridges Ortofon were already producing.

Today the long and fabled Concorde story comes full circle with Concorde Music - a new moving magnet range that mirrors the 2M Series, but offers vinyl lovers some unique characteristics, including…

  • The benefit of plug-and-play installation on tonearms with SME-style headshell mountings (think Technics, Audio Technica, Thorens, Pro-Ject S-Shape arms and others).
  • Red, Blue, Bronze, Black and LVB 250 stylus options to suit different sound preferences, technical specifications and budgets.
  • Consistent cartridge bodies for easy upgrades through the range.
  • Powerful 6mV output for easy system matching.

These cartridges are great for relevant turntable owners looking to upgrade their sound in a stylish, convenient way. They're also great for ex-DJs who now want to enjoy pure music playback from their trusty turntables. However, these should not be confused as DJ cartridges!

The Concorde Music Red is the ultimate introductory model. Combining affordability and superior sound, it is a must-try for any music lover on a budget. The Red is the perfect jumping-in point for those looking to make the switch to Hi-Fi playback, offering a quality performance as well as easy upgrade options for the future. Designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. It is Ortofon's lasting philosophy to only ever play the recorded sound, without colouration.

The Concorde Music Blue, as a step up from the Red, adds more dynamics and resolution, sounds more open, and reproduces more details.

The Blue is the first step on the path to better sound; As with the rest of the Concorde Music range the styli are interchangeable, and due to the cartridge body design the perfect partner to any other Concorde Music model.

Delivering a musical, well-balanced cartridge with great characteristics, the Concorde Music Bronze paires perfectly with jazz music or anything with a warmer, more romantic sound. The first moving magnet in the range upgrade path where personal preference and musical genre come into play. Offering a choice between the Bronze and the Black for vastly different sound profiles.

Offering ultimate accuracy and detail from your music, the Concorde Music Black will appeal to those who value an analytical and precise playback. Its slim, highly polished profile allows an exceedingly wide contact area to the groove walls and ensures notably detailed reproduction throughout the spectrum, including even the most high-frequency groove information.

The Concorde Music Black LVB 250 builds on the concept of the Concorde Music Black cartridge design to take one step further toward a truly high-end sound. Redefining what is possible from a moving magnet (MM) cartridge, the Black LVB 250 is truly an exercise in technical excellence.
