Products that are Awaiting Stock are items that we would normally carry on stock at our Oxfordshire warehouse, but are currently unavailable. Chances are there is already more on the way, but if you would like a more accurate availability status please feel free to Contact Us.
Urgent order items are products that we do not normally carry on stock, but they are typically held on stock by our European suppliers. Depending on availability, we will seek to order these products quickly, when we have an enquiry. They can therefore be subject to quicker availability times than "Special Order" products.
Special Order items are those that are most often built to order. For these items, we tend to experience longer lead times as we negotiate them into the production line with our suppliers.
The MC A Mono is a TRUE MONO cartridge for play-back of MONO recordings. If you play a MONO record with a stereo cartridge you will not achieve the same signal in the two channels due to imperfections such as crosstalk, noise, phase errors, tracking error, antiskating and distortion. This difference between the channels will result in an unstable and partially fuzzy image. A mono switch, to some extent, can improve this.
The housing of the MC A Mono is made using Ortofon’s pioneering SLM technique. In production, fine particles of Titanium are welded together, layer-by-layer, to construct a single piece body devoid of unnecessary material. Using this technique, the density of the body can be precisely controlled, allowing for extremely high internal damping. The final result provides absolute freedom from resonance, allowing the cartridge to perfectly suit a wide array of high-end tonearms.
Like other Exclusive Series cartridges, the MC A Mono makes use of the company’s best stylus profile. The specially polished Ortofon Replicant 100 diamond stylus profile boasts a thin and light shape, with an impressively long vertical contact surface making it as close as possible to an original record cutting stylus as possible. The stylus is then mounted on to a boron cantilever.
Elsewhere within the cartridge system, the MC A Mono employs Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping (WRD) technology and high-end components such as the extremely strong, compact neodymium magnet in the generator system, the Aucurum wire coils and the purpose chosen armature. The end result of such decisions is a cartridge that exhibits minimal interference and crystal clear reproduction.
Cosmetically, the shape of the MC A Mono is entirely drawn from the MC A 95, differentiated only by the 'A Mono' logo. This striking aesthetic, alongside the high-end technologies employed, manifests Ortofon's commitment to helping any vinyl lover's high expectation for their precious hi-fi system and records. d turntables.
With an output impedance of 7Ω and a low-to-medium output voltage of 0.2mV, the MC A Mono is easy to partner with most phono pre-amps and step-up transformers – including Ortofon’s own ST-80 SE model. Its optimal weight and compliance are also designed to suit the vast majority of modern tonearms, making fitting the MC A Mono in a breeze. The MC A Mono is a unique offering, helping vinyl enthusiasts with mono record collections enjoy their music like never before.
